The Backyard of Crazy doesn't happen without people who show up before the runners do and leave after the last one finishes. If you love endurance sport and want a front-row seat to something brutal and beautiful — this is your spot.
Volunteer Roles
Staff the basecamp aid station. Keep food, hydration, and recovery supplies stocked and moving. You are the pit crew. Runners depend on you every single hour.
Set and maintain course markers before and during the event. Monitor the loop for hazards, especially overnight. First eyes on anything that shouldn't be there.
Man the timing tent. Track loop completions, manage the survivor count, and keep the official record accurate. Detail-oriented and calm under pressure required.
Keep the athlete village functional around the clock — facilities, sanitation, crew zones, security coordination, and general event logistics.
Check in runners Friday evening and Saturday morning. Distribute bibs, swag, and waivers. The first face athletes and crew see when they arrive.
Capture the event — photos, video, live social coverage. Document the suffering. Tell the story. Content that lives long after the last loop is finished.
